job hiring in Australia

Job opportunities abroad
ON page 13 of the Philippine Star, issue of December 28, 2009, Mayen Jaymalin wrote this interesting piece of news: Thousands of Jobs await Pinoys in Australia. Thus I deem it proper to share it with everyone- Filipinos and foreigners alike- who have the desire and passion to seek greener pastures outside of their respective countries. Here follow its details: Plenty of jobs await highly skilled Filipino workers in Australia this year as announced last December 27 by Philippine Labor Secretary Mariano Roque. The Philippine government is scheduled to sign an agreement in early January with Southern Australia for the hiring of thousands of Filipino professionals. Roque disclosed that "good quality and high-paying jobs would be opened for highly-skilled Filipino workers. Those who would qualify for the jobs would get at least $4,000 monthly salary and there would be no placement fee".
Australia is expected to hire about 300,000 Filipino workers in the next 3 to 5 years as bared earlier by the Department of Labor and Employment. Roque said that new markets aside Australia are being considered by DOLE. Middle East countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai, etc. as usual are expected to employ the most number of skilled Filipino workers including engineers, hotel workers, construction workers- Roque was quoted. However- local recruitment agencies are afraid that the coming passage of the amended Migrant Workers Act "may lead to a downtrend in the hiring of OFWs in 2010" The proposed law mandates that the Philippines would deploy workers only to countries with existing bilateral agreements. Only 14 of nearly 200 countries employing OFWs have bilateral agreements.
Local recruitment agencies are likewise worried that the hiring of OFWs in Japan this year might not push through because of the recent decision of Yukio Hatoyama- Japan Prime Minister- to postpone the implementation of the agreement on the US military establishment in Okinawa. The Philippine Government is hoping to provide some 20,000 jobs for Filipino construction workers in Japan upon start of construction of the said US facilities there.
